Hi. Sorry for the absence of hoessentials. Let’s get back to business, shall we?
Fall is coming. The easiest and chic-est way to transition from your summer to fall/winter wardrobe is outer wear. I’m talking coats, jackets, cardigans, sweaters. Pair your t-shirts, tanks, crop tops, body suits, and other summer tops with a light jacket or cardigan! I would suggest investing in light outer wear such as denim jackets, moto jackets, cropped jackets, sheep/wool cardigans, cropped sweatshirts, full length cardigans, bomber jackets, etc. Here’s some inspiration for ya.
Back to Campus
It’s August. If you’re a college student, it’s the time of year when we all start heading back to campus for the start of the fall semester! Just a friendly reminder to start getting your shit together. Make sure you’ve registered for classes and don’t have any holds on your account. Get a planner/agenda for the school year. Get you a cute outfit for the first day of classes. Start packing up your shit now if you’re moving back to campus or your college town! Have a game plan for how to make this semester your best one yet!
Plan B Is NOT Birth Control
So this tweet went viral a couple weeks ago:
I had no idea plan B was sold on amazon prime for only 25 bucks. Being under 18 I used to have to have a friend go in and buy it for me for almost 60 bucks. teenage girls need to know about this when they need access and can’t get it pic.twitter.com/bb17B7DGOb

I understand that the point of this tweet was to increase access to the emergency contraceptive, BUT there’s some important things we all need to remember about Plan B. Yes, Plan B is affordable. NO, Plan B should not be used as regular contraception!!! Plan B should only be used in EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. It is NOT as effective as regular birth control methods. Plan B WILL fuck up your menstrual cycle and your body’s natural rhythm. Plan B is literally progestin-only birth control pills on steroids. Do you REALLY think taking a mega-dose of hormones on a regular basis is going to have little to no impact on your body??? The side effects of Plan B are NOT worth it. Just go to Planned Parenthood or download the Nurx app or go to your doctor (if you have one) and get low cost/free birth control pills y’all.
You Do You: How to Be Who You Are and Use What You’ve Got to Get What You Want
You Do You by Sarah Knight has changed my life!! She puts into words everything I’ve been feeling my entire adult life. I’ve always struggled with living my life within OTHER people’s boundaries and have always had trouble with speaking up when it comes to being myself and doing what I want. This book walks you through all of that and how to let that shit go. It’s whole message is to ACT LIKE YOURSELF and to DO WHAT YOU WANT. My favorite part is about “mental redecorating” and how to reconsider the “flaws” that other people have labelled for you and how to reimagine those flaws into strengths that you can use to get to where YOU want to go. 100/10 would definitely recommend.
