I love going braless.
I haven’t worn a bra outside of the gym (or past the first song of a stage set) in almost two years. My DD’s have been hangin and swingin with my nipples free. My family members hate that I do it, strangers have mixed reactions ranging from shocked to obnoxious, but I don’t give a fuck. It’s my choice. I live this “radical” life because bras generally make me feel physically uncomfortable and my nipples are my favorite accessary 🤷🏽♀️.
People with bigger chests are often under the impression that we can’t NOT where a bra.
I’m here to tell y’all that is a LIE. My back doesn’t hurt, my clothes still look bomb af on me, and my titties have actually gotten perkier since I’ve stopped wearing a bra (although who gives af about that).
The stigma is real.
It’s obvious that there’s a LOT of stigma surrounding not wearing a bra. Look, I’m not gonna lie. The almost dissociative trance like state that strangers (generally men) go into when they get a glimpse of ~le nipples~ can be pretty unnerving. Like, for instance I was at the fucking museum last summer and a dude, while walking hand in hand with his gf/wife/w/e, could not take his eyes off of my chest. It was mad annoying AND disrespectful to us both. Or like when I’m at school and my teachers and classmates don’t take me seriously because they’re so incapacitated by the fact that I, a woman, have breasts that have nipples that aren’t completely out of sight. People love to say shit while I’m walking away…
Whenever the topic comes up, in person or online, a lot of people feel that a woman choosing to not wear a bra “while in public” is disgusting, trashy, inappropriate, slutty, etc. Even my own mom can’t wrap her mind around the fact that I’m exercising my right to do something that is so totally natural and empowering to me.
The science is in… kinda.
The reviews are mixed. Many studies have told us that wearing a bra and not wearing bra have no health benefits either way. On the contrary, a majorly cited study done in France has proved with preliminary results that not wearing a bra increases the perkiness of breasts and an increase in the production of healthy breast tissue.
What is consistent is that wearing a bra literally has no fucking purpose, except for aesthetic ones.
Bring the girls out 🗣🗣🗣
So many women are ditching their bras and freeing the nipples. It’s obviously very physically comfortable. It’s empowering. It’s fun. Nipples are a great accessory to any outfit.
Of course, it can be a little intimidating. I will tell you that if you’re looking for a way to assert your confidence as a woman and human being totally autonomous from the constraints of society then the no bra life might just be for you.
Personally, not wearing a bra is extremely liberating. I don’t care about what people think, I don’t do it for the reactions or to make other people uncomfortable, I honestly truly could not care less about what y’all thought. I do it because it’s the most comfortable and fashionable option to me.
In the end, it’s a deeply personal decision.
If you haven’t noticed, the reoccurring theme to not only this post, but to this blog, is that every single thing you do should be your own personal decision. Every decision you make, every stance you take, every way that you choose to express yourself should be FOR YOU!!!
So tell me, do you wear a bra? Why or why not?
